Ottomans: The Kid-Friendly Coffee Table Alternative

I recently became a first-time momma to a sweet little boy, Theron Drake. Though I love my current $20 garage sale-find coffee table, I knew it wouldn't be the best option down the road.

I loved my thrifty find, but the glass top and sharp edges would not be the best combo for all too soon-to-be toddling kiddo.

Enter my newest obsession: ottomans. I have always loved ottomans in home decor, but now getting one is a necessity. The possibilities are endless when it comes to size, shape, pattern, and price point. There are also numerous helpful DIY posts abound on the Internet if you're the handy type.

Not only are ottomans stylish and colorful, but they can also offer a nice place to prop your feet up after a long day. Styling them is also pretty easy as long as you have some books and a tray or two handy.

Here are some of my favorite images of ottomans in home decor:

Next time you're in the market for a coffee table, I suggest you forgo the traditional wood or metal options and incorporate some texture and color with an ottoman!
